Product Description
    As a sensitive determination method, Chemiluminescence is widely used to detect free radicals and reactive metabolites produced in enzymes, cells and biological bodies. The light emitted by the oxidation products and metabolites can be detected by various photometers. Chemiluminescence has been widely used in the screening and research of antioxidants, such as polyphenols, polysaccharides, flavonoids, anthraquinones, etc., because of its sensitivity, rapidity, simplicity and low cost. The commonly used chemiluminescence systems for the determination of superoxide anion include xanthine oxidase-luminol, pyrogallol luminol and dimethyl sulphoxide chemicalbook-luminol. The former is an enzymatic system, and the latter two are non-enzymatic systems. The main chemiluminescence systems for the determination of hydroxyl radical include copper sulphate-yeast (or bone marrow cells) -ascorbate-hydrogen peroxide, CUCL-H2O2 -o-phenanthroline-carbonate buffer, copper sulphate-o-phenanthroline-ascorbate-hydrogen peroxide, ferrous sulphate-lumino-hydrogen peroxide and ferrous sulphate-luminol. Both involve the classic Fenton reaction to produce hydroxyl radicals, and then attack the luminant to produce chemiluminescence, which can be used to measure the scavenging activity of the extract on reactive oxygen free radicals.
